Our History:
With over 23 years of experience providing special needs information and programing to families and professionals, Parent to Parent High Country Family Support Network serves a seven county area, providing free and confidential services in Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey Counties.
An affiliate of the Family Support Network of North Carolina, Parent to Parent High Country Support Network is sponsored locally by Appalachian State University and the Children’s Developmental Services Agency of the Blue Ridge.
Our Mission Statement:
We value the worth of all children, and we support the families and professionals who care for children with special needs. Our focus is on providing information, referrals, training and resources to these families and professionals in Western North Carolina.
We promote collaboration among families and service providers, engage in service learning and internships with area college students, support foster families, and we encourage care and education for children with special needs which is family centered and community based.
